Erfassung der Hämolyse mittels optischer Reflexionsspektroskopie
Abstract
dc:descriptionThe mechanical blood damage (hemolysis) is a critical fact of medical blood assisting devices. In order to minimize the physiological stress of the patients, the flow rate must be adapted in terms of hemolysis. In this dissertation a new method for a continuous detection of hemolysis is presented. Compared to common techniques, containing withdrawal blood samples, plasma separation, chemical treatment and spectroscopic evaluation, the continuous evaluation of hemolysis reduces time and the need of expensive technical equipment. The method is based on the detection of reflected light which is emitted directly into the circulating blood. The optical sieve effect as well as the spatial diffusion of the red colored hemoglobin which dilutes in the plasma due to the rupture of erythrocytes causes a change of light scattering. The theoretical calculation of the influence is based on a modification of the Photon Diffusion Theory. Experiments with porcine blood in an artifical circulatory with emitted light at 830nm confirm these results. A comparison with the cyan-method as a reference shows, that under laboratory conditions an error of less than 10% can be obtained. Coating the sensor surface with Parylene C increases the hematological and optical compatibility. With that the duration of measurement in vitro could achieve 12 hours.
