Methodik zur Gestaltung modularer Produktionssysteme für Unternehmen der Serienproduktion

High information availability, fast changing product and manufacturing technologies dominate the competitive environment of the 21.st Century. Apart from lowering costs, in particular fast and non-standard conversion of customer requirements to new products develops to a dominating company target. Due to this rising individualizing of products manufacturing plants have to produce a more diversified product spectrum. Additionally these product spectra change more frequently, due to decreasing product life cycles. This increased product variance and frequency of change cause an increase in safety stock amounts, complex adjustments of resources and an intermittent flow of material. Investigations show that modification costs of a production line over 10 years can amount up to 40% of the invested capital. Approximately 65% of these changes are caused by product modifications. The available thesis points out a methodology for the organization of modular production systems, in order to reduce adaptation expenditure with product modifications. The common product and production planning process is extended by planning processes, which consider variance induced by market and product. The general approach of this work is to limit influences of variance on isolated processes within the value chain. Generic proposals to design product and production modules are developed. These generic proposals serve as basis for the development of concrete design measures within a product and production planning process. The thesis makes thus a contribution and gives new impulses in the research areas of product and production planning.
