Entwicklung und Anwendung mobiler NMR-Sonden

Abstract

dc:description

In the first part of this thesis the concept of an NMR endoscope for use in medical examinations and minimal invasive interventions has been investigated. An operative NMR endoscope had been developed and test measurements had been performed successfully. The experiments prove that the radial measure concept of the NMR endoscope is suitable to perform radial imaging, space resolved spectroscopy and relaxation measurements. In the second part the feasibilities of the endoscope has been examined to work as an autarkic mobile NMR probe for use in fields, which are inaccessible for NMR due to reasons of mobility and size. Due to the conceptual inhomogeneity of the B0 and the B1 field the development was much more difficult. But it was possible to realize a prototype and perform some simple echo and relaxation experiments. In the third part of the thesis a new medical field of application for the NMR-MOUSE had been opened up. In contrary to an experiment done on a clinical tomograph the NMR-MOUSE allows to vary the angle between the orientation of the sample and the static magnetic field. This makes it possible to measure the T2 anisotropy of e.g. tendon. Measurements of the anisotropic behaviour of 1/T2 had been done on extracted animal tendons and in vivo on the human Achilles tendon.
