Experimentelle und numerische Untersuchung von Gleichstromzyklonen

Abstract

dc:description

The present work analyses different designs of gas-particle uniflow cyclones with regard to their pressure loss and separation characteristics. By means of experimental and numerical (CFD) methods a set of dimensionless equations is established that enables a basic cyclone design within the range of technically relevant parameters. A comparison between uniflow and the well-investigated counterflow cyclone indicates a higher efficiency of the latter, thus indicating the aptitude of the uniflow cyclone as a pre-separator with low pressure loss. The new concept of a secondary gas driven cyclone proves its potential as a highly efficient separator for special applications. The smelting cyclone as a combination of chemical reactor and phase separator is analysed regarding mixing and reaction behaviour. A coupling of a thermochemical simulator to CFD modelling enables the prediction of reacting dispersed solids in complex systems such as metallurgical or waste systems.
